It Doesn’t Pay To Lie

There are many times in life when it can be tempting to tell a little white lie, but when it comes to your auto insurance, lying can turn into serious business. If you unfortunately got in an accident, it is tempting to fudge the truth a little bit – to make it look a little better than the situation actually was. After all, you do not want your insurance rates to go up.

However, lying to your insurance company is not to be taken lightly. It could lead to further investigation into your claim that would not happen if you were honest. If the insurance company determines you were lying, they could charge you for being fraudulent. Instead of giving into the temptation to lie, be upfront and honest with the insurance company at all times.

Honesty really is the best policy. And, when you are honest, it goes a long way. You will have a better relationship with your insurance company and you will not have to deal with the consequences of being dishonest.

Whenever you do have a claim, do your best to cooperate with the insurance company. Also, keep records of everything you discuss and anything pertinent to the accident so that you can back up your claim.
